There are no good words. I attempt anyway. You make the universe vaster and deeper when some of the wiggly bits of you complement some of the wiggly bits of me, in some deeply valuable way. Thank you to those of you who have impacted my life, in immeasurable ways, by offering your unique selves to me. You’ve made me a far better human being than I imagined possible.

Special thanks goes out to my beloved David. There really are no good words.

But, thank you from all of the cells in my body, nonetheless.

With you I can fly

The Big Picture:

My big goal that is getting very much closer, thanks to generous donations, is starting a non-profit community resource hub with resident artists, techies, and educators all working with the community to find creative solutions using available resources to serve the needs of the community members freely and unconditionally so that everyone can be their best possible selves. I’m currently (Spring 2018) starting to seriously look for (very cheap) property, ideally an old farm, probably in mid-coast Maine, and seeking folks who can help figure out the legal stuff of starting a non-profit or whatever, and putting the property into a trust so that it’s always there to serve the needs of those who live there.

I’ve also created a Patreon creator account for those who believe that my work is valuable and who have an excess number of banking points (aka $’s, £’s, ¥, or whatever).

.

I have a saying “Who haven’t you asked yet?” I guess it stemmed from my quest for answers about how to grow healthfully, and how to deal with anger, after realizing that both I and my beloved husband were so very angry. I found my best answers by looking in all kinds of weird places. Leaving no stone unturned, as they say. By listening to so many different types of individuals, instead of just the ones who were similar to me, I found some really unexpected perspectives which led to some great solutions.

We can form questions in different ways to get the attention of different kinds of individuals, who have different perspectives on the subject. These can be anything from different parts of our own brain to other animals, vegetables, minerals, and whatnot that we encounter in our lives — anything that happens to have some kind of information that we might not have, or haven’t yet tried to apply to our current problem we’re trying to solve.

Here are the kinds of questions that we can ask, in chronological order, as we seek to achieve a goal and encounter a problematic something or other (X):

Physical (Negative/Past): What caused X?

Emotional: What do others think of my theory about what caused X?

Intellectual: How does my theory fail to predict reality?

Philosophical: What IS reality (here and now)?

Physical (Positive/Future): How can we work WITH reality (to achieve our goal)?

.

What do they know?
Did you ask them?

(Oh, and inertia was the word I was looking for!)

You are made of a vast number of wiggles… vibrations of quantum particles, making vibrating atoms, making vibrating molecules, making vibrating cells, making vibrating organs, making a vibrating living organism. All of it combined is you. You are one big complex wave.

And your wave is always adding complementary, compatible, yet slightly incompatible, other waves to it, to help you become a better you. A you that fits together better.

In this podcast I ramble around the idea of what makes you you, and not, for example, a lamp, and why you are probably pretty compatible with me, even looking all the way back to you as a zygote!

My own reflection of what I’ve lost, an introspection on the past decade of my life, without my beloved husband and without a healthy community that supports my basic needs for food, water, air, warmth, light, information, and the freedom to express myself fully.

I’ve used this loss to define myself and my goals for creating a better world. I hope that you can explore your own losses and define yourself with them so that you, too, can clarify your goals and ideals for what you want to do with your life!

TWTS – Letters In Your Brain

.

Consider how the brain could function in a way that is pretty literally just recording the sensations that your body physically experiences (from the wavelength of light to the temperature and pressure of touch to the chemicals of smell) when you encounter some unique thing, by drawing little diagrams – like the letter “A” only way more complex and in 3D – in the brain using the neurons as endpoints and the axons and dendrites connecting them as the lines. When remembering something, we might literally just be replaying the physical experience in the body in some way, with full sensurround experience. (Just on a more subtle scale most of the time.)

And memories, ideas, language, etc. are fuzzy because the diagrams that get drawn with the biological stuff inside the brain are like waves describing probability, rather than simple, unchanging, written-in-stone “facts”. When I experience the color purple, most of the time it’s a pleasant experience, but occasionally it’s not, so the brain remembers those edge cases, as well as the more common ones, to use for future predictions about what might happen when those sensory experiences occur again.

TWTS – Life is a Grand Experiment

TWTS – Episode 58 – Life is a Grand Experiment

.

Evolution, be it genetic or memetic or otherwise, is the process of taking two unique wholes, splitting them in half (or more, perhaps) and combining those halves with different halves, making entirely new wholes. The wholes go on to split up so that they, too, can expand out into the larger environment — from the tiny spaces inside a tidal pool, to a whole solar system, or any other scale of space that life exists within — and what happens on their unique journey, going their own separate ways and then re/connecting with all the other individual animals, vegetables, minerals, and such, as the whole system is explored, is recorded in the memories and general structure of the matter that makes us “individual things” up. And then the best, most interesting, most useful, most relevant, information forms one grand story of Everything That Is.

These stories — information packets in any form, genes, art, ideas, culture, etc. — of things that work best for nurturing all the individual things in the system, helping them function and grow and thrive, are shared as widely as possible, so that they can be used to make more, new, individuals/wholes, forever pairing with other parts never before combined. (And the least useful, interesting, helpful stories get forgotten, for the most part, except perhaps as examples of what not to do). The more that this process of taking the best parts of one individual person, place, or thing, and smooshing them together with the best parts of another individual person, place, or thing happens, the more effective, interesting, and delightful life gets overall, for both the individuals and the whole amazing system.

For the vast majority of us humans the state of flow is… over there. Just out of our immediate reach.

But if we stretch ourselves we can get there, get to a state where our bodies, including our brains, are operating at peak performance.

And to get there we need BOTH the support of healthy resources, and just a little bit of discomfort. Too much ease and comfort will make us bored. Too much pain and suffering and frustration will immobilize us (or turn us psychopathic). But that nice balance of everything we need most, plus a little challenge to give us a problem to focus our skills and experience on, will lead us to accomplishing something we likely never imagined possible. Some research suggests that the discomfort level is ideal when there is a positive (comfort) to negative (discomfort) experience ratio of 5:1.
